CHOCOLATE CONGO BARS 
2 3/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening or oil
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. nuts, broken (optional)
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits

Melt shortening. Add sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Add nuts and chocolate bits. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Cut in squares.
