“PASTELON CASSEROLE” IS IN:

PASTELON CASSEROLE 
4 ripe platanos
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup grated mild flavored cheese (like cheddar)
1/2 cup homemade sofrito
1 tablespoon capers
salt, pepper and oregano, to taste
1 cup broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste

Peel platanos and slice diagonally. Heat up pan with a little olive oil and a pad of butter and brown platanos on each side for about 2 minutes, then remove. Add sofrito and capers to pan and mix around. Return meat and add remaining ingredients except cheese and platanos and cook for 20 minutes.

In a oven glass dish, brush olive oil and butter on bottom dish and pre-heat oven to 325°F. Place a small layer of meat on bottom and arrange platanos on top (kinda making a lasagna). Just layer one after the other and finish off with cheese. Cook for 30 minutes.
