HOMEMADE BISCUITS 
1 tbsp. sugar
2 c. flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. milk or half water and half milk

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening and mix together by hand; add milk gradually.

Put flour on wax paper and roll out and cut with tip of any size glass -- dip glass top in flour. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until brown on bottom.

This made pretty good biscuits, even with a small guy helping. I didn't roll out and cut with a glass, just formed in a roll and cut off chunks. Ended up with 6 large thick biscuits, but had to add extra 5 minutes cooking time. Turned out great.
