WHITE CAKE (LAYERS) 
2 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 egg whites

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk and vanilla. beat until smooth. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 2 greased 8 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until light brown or insert knife and comes out clean. Ice with favorite icing.
