CHEESY CABBAGE | |
1 med. cabbage, chopped 1 c. bacon, crumbled 2 c. onion, chopped 3 tbsp. butter 1/4 c. flour 1 1/4 c. milk 3 tbsp. cream 1 1/4 c. grated Cheddar cheese Salt & pepper to taste Cook cabbage in boiling, salted water for 10 minutes. Drain well. Gently saute bacon until golden. Remove from pan. Add butter to bacon fat and saute onion until softened. Add flour and cook to a boil, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and add cream and cheese, reserving 1 tablespoon cheese for top. Stir in bacon and season with salt and pepper. Place cabbage in a casserole dish. Pour cheese mixture over cabbage. Sprinkle with reserved cheese. Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes until golden and bubbly. |
