HEARTY BEAN BURGER STEW 
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1/3 c. chopped onion
2 cans vegetarian beans
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/3 c. chopped green pepper
1 tbsp. shortening
1 can tomatoes
1 tsp. sugar

Saute beef, onion and green pepper in shortening in Dutch oven until vegetables are tender. Drain excess fat, stir in beans and remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
