HOLIDAY YAM CASSEROLE 
4 or 5 yams
4 pippin apples
Butter
Brown sugar

Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Wash yams, then boil until cooked halfway. Cool in refrigerator; then peel. Slice lengthways into 1/4 inch thick slices. Alternate sliced yams with thinly sliced apples. Sprinkle butter and sugar generously over each layer - about 3 layers.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours - half of the time covered, half uncovered. Baste frequently.
