COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. oats
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted shortening
Maple flavoring

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Break in egg, add milk and mix well. Add shortening and place in greased 10 or 12 inch cake pan. Spread with topping made by creaming 2 tablespoons soft butter, 4 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 2 tablespoons flour. Dot with chopped nuts. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. I double the topping.
