1 c. rolled oats
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

First, pour boiling water over oatmeal, let cool. Cream butter, sugars. Add eggs. Add cooled oatmeal to this mixture. Add vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

ICING:

1/2 c. nuts
1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar

Bring to boil, stir well. Spread on cake while hot. Place under broiler until it bubbles, less than 1 minute!
