SQUASH - APPLE BAKE 
2 lb. butternut or buttercup squash, acorn is good too
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter, melted
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. mace or nutmeg
2 lg. baking apples, cored & cut into 1/2 inch slices

Cut squash into halves. Remove seeds and fibers. Pare. Cut into 1/2 inch slices. Mix brown sugar, butter, flour, salt and nutmeg. Arrange squash in ungreased baking dish. Top with apple slices. "Sprinkle" sugar mixture over top. Cover, bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until squash is tender. Serves 6.
