DIANE'S RAISIN OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 c. oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins

Soak raisins in 1 cup boiling water. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture. Drain raisins. Reserve 1/2 cup raisin juice. Add raisin juice, raisins, oats and nuts. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
