CHOCOLATE TEXAS CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 stick butter 4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water

Bring to boil. 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. baking soda 2 eggs, slightly beaten

(I use sour milk made with milk and vinegar if I don't have buttermilk on hand.)

Put in bowl. Add cocoa mixture and beat. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

FROSTING:

4 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
5 tbsp. milk

Bring to a boil and mix with 1 pound powdered sugar. Frost cake when taken from oven.
