HAMBURGER-CABBAGE CASSEROLE | |
3 lbs. ground beef 1 med. to lg. head cabbage 1 lg. white onion, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 3 (16 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 tsp. garlic powder or salt 1 tsp. rosemary leaves 1 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. thyme 1 tsp. red pepper 1 c. barley or rice (not instant) Salt & pepper to taste Brown meat in a large pot, add onion, green pepper, salt and pepper to taste. Cut cabbage into bite size pieces (such as you would lettuce). Add to browned meat mixture. Add tomato sauce, spices and barley or rice. Bring to a boil, reduce to low heat and cook about 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until done. Serves 10. |
