SWEDISH ICE BOX COOKIES (EA) 
1/2 c. butter
1 egg, well beaten
2 tbsp. caraway seeds (optional)
3/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and add confectioners' sugar slowly. Add beaten egg and vanilla and stir in. Mix caraway seeds (if used) with flour and nuts; blend thoroughly into butter mixture. Fold into roll. Wrap in waxed paper and chill in refrigerator. Slice thinly, cutting each slice in half to make half moon shape. Place on greased baking sheet and bake in oven, 375 degrees, for 12-15 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
