PASSOVER SEPHARDIC MEAT PIE | |
1 sm. box matzos 1 tbsp. oil 1 egg Parsley or cilantro Seasonings (salt, pepper & cumin) 1 sm. can tomato sauce 1 1/2 lb. chopped meat (beef, veal, lamb, chicken or turkey) 2 onions 4 cloves garlic 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms Brown onions, garlic and mushrooms in oil. Remove from pan and brown meat until pink is gone. Season with salt, pepper and parsley for Ashkenazi version or cilantro and cumin for Sephardic version. Drain fat from meat and combine with vegetables. Grease rectangular pan. Place dry matza on bottom; layer meat, sprinkle parsley and spoon tomato sauce. Repeat. End with a layer of matza. Spread with egg. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
