HOT CRUSTY BISCUITS | |
1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 2 1/4 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/3 c. shortening 2/3 c. milk 4 tsp. baking powder Sift together dry ingredients. Cut shortening into mixture to make coarse crumbs, add egg and milk. Mix with a fork until the dough follows the fork around the bowl. Knead on floured board 5 or 6 times. Roll or pat to 1/2" thick; cut out. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. |
