1 1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour, unsifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 2/3 c. quick oats
1/3 c. oat bran
1 1/3 c. walnuts, broken

Mix butter and sugars, add egg and vanilla. Beat well with mixer. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices - add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in oats and oat bran. Mix in nuts.

Drop by rounded tablespoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees about 11 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. (The oat bran gives a different taste and texture.
