AMERICAN CHOP SUEY 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1 pt. tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. chili pepper
2 tbsp. sugar
1 lb. macaroni
1 c. grated cheese

Add onion and green pepper to ground beef. Saute lightly, breaking meat into small pieces. Cook until all pink disappears from meat. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, soy sauce, chili powder and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook macaroni 7-8 minutes (firm stage); drain and rinse in cold water. Combine cooked macaroni with meat mixture. Place in greased pan; top with grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
