DANISH SUGAR COOKIES | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. sifted flour 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg 1/2 tsp. lemon extract 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/8 tsp. salt Cream together butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla and lemon extract, beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Stir gradually into creamed mixture. Chill well. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Flatten by pressing with bottom of glass that has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes, or until lightly brown. Makes 5 dozen. Note: Can use almond extract if you don't like lemon. |
