SOUR CREAM APPLE SQUARES 
2 c. flour
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. finely chopped peeled apples
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and butter; beat at low speed until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups of mixture in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 pan. To remaining mixture add balance of ingredients and spoon evenly over base.

Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream.

Makes 12 servings.
