BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES (ICE
WATER STYLE)
 
1 gal. sliced cucumbers
8 sm. onions, chopped fine
2 green peppers
1/2 c. salt
6 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tbsp. mustard seed

Soak cucumbers for two hours in ice water. Put all other ingredients in a kettle and bring to a boil, boiling until seasoned. Drop in the well drained cucumbers and bring to a boil. Pack and seal at once.
