APPLE DESSERT SQUARES 
7 apples, pared & sliced
1 c. sugar

Combine apples and sugar and let stand.

CRUST:

2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
2 egg yolk
Water

Combine flour, shortening and salt. Put the 2 egg yolks in a cup and add water to make 3/4 cup total. Add to flour mixture and mix until dough. Divide in half and roll onto a cookie sheet.

Layer over the crust:

Spread the apple mixture over the cornflakes and cover with the second half of the dough rolled out sealing the edges. Poke a few holes in the top crust. Beat egg whites until frothy and spread on dough. Bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Frosting glaze is optional.
