BEEF BURGUNDY #1 
2 lbs. stewing beef, very lean
1 jar canned onions
1 bottle red wine
6 strips bacon
1 sm. can mushrooms

Salt, pepper, and flour stewing beef. Fry bacon strips and set aside until later. Brown beef in bacon grease. Set aside. After all beef is browned, pour bottle of wine in pot with beef. Cover beef with wine. (If it does not cover finish covering with water. Cover, cook on low until beef is very tender, about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It makes it's own gravy. Drain jar of onions and add. Add mushrooms, drained. Crumble bacon over meat mixture. Stir all together. Heat until bubbly hot. Serve with rice.
