This is not Cherokee Bean Bread. This is not how it is made. This is not the recipe. This is not representative of the Cherokee people or food. Please rename this recipe. It is offensive.

This bread was very good. I liked it whatever it would be called. @Wadlusi: Can you share the real Cherokee Bean Bread recipe with us? That would be much more helpful than your comment which doesn't sound very friendly at all.

Our family recipe is from Delilah bullock Houston or Cherokee ancestor from the trail of tears. I grew up eating these BEAN PATTIES as we called them. First we made a pot of pintos and cornbread. The leftover beans were refrigerated until the next day. We added cornmeal and flour as week as seasoning. Used Crisco shortening. The bean mix was dropped into hot grease and Fried like a hamburger patty. Use your salmon patty recipe, just replace the salmon with pinto beans... Sure to be a winner.

Indian bean bread is made using hot water to cook it. No eggs are used in the one my grandfather taught me. Used only bean juice and no milk.

Its so amazing to see Delilahs recipe here. We use to eat bean patties with polk salad in chattanooga Tennessee. Delilah one of my maternal grandmothers. I cannot find any information on her father and its hindering my family tree. But this recipe keeps me so close to my roots. Thank you for sharing!!!
