FIVE HOUR BEEF 
Layer in Dutch oven or crockpot:

3 lb. lean chuck, cut in cubes (unbrowned)
4 lg. carrots, quartered
1 c. chopped celery
2 lg. onions, sliced
1 can sliced water chestnuts
3 tbsp. minute tapioca
2 cans whole white potatoes
1 lg. can tomatoes
1 green pepper, diced
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. wine
1 tbsp. parsley
1 bay leaf

Bake in 275 degree oven or crockpot 5 hours. Stir and serve.
