APPLE MUFFINS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. coarsely chopped apples
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. walnuts
3 eggs
1/2 c. melted butter
4 oz. cream cheese, small pieces
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine first 6 ingredients and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients. Add to first mixture a little at a time and stir until just combined the flour mixture, plus 3/4 cup brown sugar nd 1/2 cup sugar. Do not over mix.

Portion batter in muffin papers, sprinkle with topping and bake 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes 24 muffins.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. lemon peel, grated
1 oz. melted butter

We like these as dessert.
