BROILED BURGERS
3 lb. lean ground beef
1 large red onion, coarsely chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1/2 cup fresh Italian parsley, chopped
1/2 cup diced canned (drained) or fresh ripe tomatoes
5 cloves garlic, finely minced
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp. fresh basil, minced or 1 tsp. dry Italian seasoning
3/4 cup bread crumbs or Panko

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, mixing thoroughly.

Form into 12 balls. Press to flatten. Extras may be layered between sheets of plastic wrap or wax paper and frozen.

Broil for 6 minutes 4 inches away from preheated broiler (set oven to broil and position rack 4 inches from heating element or flame). Alternatively, broil directly over white hot coals or gas flames on grill.

Turn over and broil for another 2-4 minutes, or until desired doneness in center. Thicker burgers will take longer to cook through to center.

This recipe was so easy and it tasted delish! I added feta, mozzarella and Parmesan (block cheese) to this and was VERY tasty and juicy. No need for ketchup as this would damper the already flavorful taste, but add yellow mustard and it was wonderful! Best served on flat bread.
