2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

In large pan, cook white sugar, buttermilk, butter and soda until forms a soft ball. Add vanilla and nuts. Cool and beat.

Note: the candy will turn a caramel color just before it's ready to take off the stove.
