BUTTERMILK NUT CANDY 
1 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
1 c. coarsely chopped nuts

Combine sugar, salt, soda and buttermilk in a heavy iron skillet. Cook over medium heat. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring often to prevent burning or boiling over. Remove from heat. Add butter, flavoring and nuts. Beat until creamy and thick. Drop on waxed paper lined pan.
