ENGLISH APPLE PIE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. water
1/2 c. chopped pecans
4 lg. cooking apples (about 6 c.)
1/2 c. granulated sugar

Beat butter and brown sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy. Stir in flour, 1 tsp. cinnamon and water until smooth and thick. Stir in pecans. Mound apples in a 9 inch deep dish pie plate.

Mix granulated sugar with remaining 1 tsp. of cinnamon, sprinkle over apples. Spoon topping over apples in dollops. Bake on lowest rack of oven at 375 degrees, 45-50 minutes. Serve warm with milk or cream.
