ICE BOX MUFFINS 
2 c. boiling water
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
5 c. flour
5 tsp. baking soda
2 c. Nabisco 100% Bran
2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 qt. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
4 c. Kellogg's All Bran

Pour hot water over Nabisco 100% Bran. Set aside. Sift flour, salt and baking soda twice. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add buttermilk. Add soaked 100% Bran. Mix in dry ingredients all at once with the Kellogg's Bran. Fold in only until ingredients are moistened. Bake in greased tins as needed at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes one gallon -- keeps 6 to 7 weeks in refrigerator. One quart makes 16 to 18 muffins.
