MARIE'S SALSA PIZZAIOLA | |
3 tbsp. olive oil 1 c. onion, finely chopped 1 tbsp. garlic, finely chopped 4 c. Roma (Italian) tomatoes, coarsely chopped 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 tbsp. dried oregano 1 tsp. dried basil 1 bay leaf 4 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tbsp. salt Ground pepper as desired Mix together and boil one hour slowly or microwave in a covered casserole at high temperature until desired thickness. Remove bay leaf. Makes excellent pizza or pasta sauce and freezes well. |
