APPLE CUSTARD PIE 
9" pie shell, unbaked
1 c. thinly sliced, peeled apples
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
4 eggs, slightly beaten
2 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Arrange apples in the bottom of pie shell. Combine 1 tablespoon of sugar with cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples. Beat together eggs, remaining sugar, milk, vanilla and salt. Pour over apples in pie shell. (Place pie on oven rack when filling to prevent spilling.) Bake in preheated oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Chill pie before serving.
