BUTTERMILK ROLLS 
1 env. active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. lukewarm buttermilk
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. melted shortening
4 1/2 c. pre-sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

In mixing bowl, soften yeast in water. Add buttermilk, sugar and shortening. In another mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Stir into buttermilk mixture. Beat until smooth. Let stand for 10 minutes. Grease baking sheet. Roll out dough. Shape into rolls; arrange on baking sheet. Cover. Let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
