BUTTERMILK ROLLS
1 pkg. dry yeast
5 c. sifted flour (plain)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/4 c. buttermilk
4 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
5 tbsp. Crisco

Heat 1/2 cup buttermilk to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast over milk and stir until dissolved. Allow to stand a few minutes and then add remaining buttermilk and blend well. Sift flour with dry ingredients; work in shortening as per biscuits. Add buttermilk mixture and blend well. Grease top of dough. Cover and store in refrigerator. About 2 hours before serving time, turn dough onto lightly floured board and knead gently. Make into rolls and place on greased baking dish. Brush top with melted butter. Allow to stand in warm place until double in bulk. Bake in 400 degree oven about 15 minutes or until done. Brush tops with butter again after taking out of oven.
