ALICE'S FAMOUS CHILI 
In a half inch of oil, saute until soft:

3 chopped onions
3 chopped green peppers
3 lg. cloves finely chopped garlic

In another pan, brown:

1 or 2 lbs. ground beef

Drain fat from beef and add beef to onion and pepper.

Add:

1 or 2 cans tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
2 to 8 tbsp. chili powder

Add:

1 tbsp. sugar
Some salt, pepper and paprika
2 bay leaves
1 tsp. cumin
2 tsp. basil
2 pinches of cayenne or hot chili sauce

Simmer half an hour, until thick.

Add:

1 or 2 cans kidney beans

Serve on rice, and top with chopped raw onions.
