RED DEVILS FOOD CAKE | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar Pinch of salt 2 c. flour 1 tsp. vinegar 1 tsp. baking soda 3 tbsp. cocoa 2 tbsp. red food coloring 2 eggs 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Mix cocoa and coloring into a paste. Add to first mixture. Add flour, milk, salt and vanilla. Combine vinegar and soda, add to batter, last, stirring very little. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes for loaf or 30 to 35 minutes for layers. |
