BREAD DOUGH ORNAMENTS | |
DOUGH: 2 c. flour 1 c. salt 1 c. water PAINT: 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp. water Food coloring In large bowl, mix and knead salt, flour and water until salt is well blended. Spread out a piece of waxed paper. Dust with flour. Roll out dough about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Place shapes on foil-covered cookie sheet. Beat egg yolk and water in small dish. Divide it evenly in 3 or 4 compartments of an empty egg carton. Add food coloring and stir. Before baking: Paint the ornaments. Use a toothpick to poke a hole in the top of the ornament for string or ribbon for hanging later. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees about 10 minutes until dry. DO NOT BROWN. DO NOT EAT. |
