CHEROKEE CASSEROLE 
1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. each garlic powder, thyme and oregano
1/2 bay leaf
1 (1 lb.) can of tomatoes
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. Minute Rice
2 or 3 slices of American cheese

Brown meat in olive oil, cook until tender. Stir in all ingredients except cheese. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally. Spoon into baking dish and top with cheese. Put in oven until cheese is melted. 350 degrees.
