OATMEAL CAKE 
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
2 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 heaping tsp. baking powder
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour

Mix together butter, boiling water and oatmeal; let stand. In separate bowl combine remaining ingredients. Add to oatmeal mixture, pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch cake pan and bake 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes.

FROSTING (DO NOT COOK) :

6 1/2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. (rounded) coconut
1/4 c. canned milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. (rounded) brown sugar
1/2 c. (rounded) chopped walnuts or pecans
