OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening (part lard)
4 eggs
2 c. raisins
10 tbsp. raisin water
2 rounded tsp. baking soda
4 c. oatmeal
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Cook raisins a few minutes until they are plumped and cool. Add soda to the 10 tablespoons raisin water. Add raisins and raisin water to creamed mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

Makes enormous batch of soft cookies.
