OATMEAL CRISPIES (COOKIES) 
1 c. shortening (1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. lard)
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
3 c. rolled oats (quick type)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. black walnuts

Mix. Form into roll. Freeze or chill overnight. Slice 1/4 inch thick and bake at 350 degrees about 12 minutes.
