JEWISH APPLE CAKE 
1/4 c. sugar
4 big apples, sliced
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 c. unsifted flour
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
4 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. baking powder
7 tbsp. orange juice
1 c. nuts

Mix and set aside the 1/4 cup of sugar, sliced apples and cinnamon. Follow in order the remaining ingredients and mix in large bowl. Beat until smooth. Bake in tube pan, well greased and floured.

Layer batter and apples in pan, starting with a layer of batter and ending with a layer of apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 3/4 hours.
