MY SISTER'S JEWISH APPLE CAKE 
5 apples, preferably Delicious
2 tbsp. cinnamon
5 tbsp. sugar
1 c. oil
1/4 c. orange juice
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder

Pare and slice apples. Combine 5 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon and mix with apples. (Do not use juice in bottom of apple bowl.) Let stand while making batter.

Combine 2 cups sugar, oil and orange juice. Then add dry ingredients, vanilla and eggs.

In a greased tube pan, layer batter, then apples, and continue ending with a thin layer of apples pressed into batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
