CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS 
Cook hen until done. Remove from broth and debone.

DUMPLINGS:

1 1/2 c. flour
1 egg, beaten
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. water

Combine flour, beaten egg, shortening, salt and water. Mix until dough is soft. Roll out very thin, let dry for 20 minutes. Cut in small strips, drop in broth. Cook dumplings until tender. Adding cooked chicken. Makes about 6 servings.

I add a chopped onion to chicken as I am cooking it. If you are using fryer size chicken add some butter to broth.
