ORANGE BARBECUE RIBS 
2 lbs. ribs, cut individually
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 slices fresh ginger
2 green onions, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 pieces star anise or 2 drops anise extract

Combine ribs in pot with enough water to cover, adding all above ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Drain well. The ribs can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated. Bring to room temperature before broiling.

BASTING SAUCE FOR RIBS:

1/2 c. chicken broth
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. finely chopped orange peel

Combine sauce ingredients and bring to a boil in saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Broil or barbecue ribs, turning and basting frequently until heated through.
