HOLIDAY PIZZELLES | |
This recipe makes traditional pizzelles that are perfect for any occasion. With only a few ingredients and simple instructions, you can create these delicious treats in no time. The key to success is using a pizzelle iron that's fully heated to cook them to perfection. Once cooled, these pizzelles are ready to be served and enjoyed. Just sprinkle with a dusting of confectioners sugar and top with your favorite fruit! ![]() 3 large eggs 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Preheat the pizzelle iron. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in the melted butter and vanilla or anise extract, and mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until everything is well combined. Drop a small amount of batter onto the center of each pizzelle iron plate. Close the iron and bake for 30-45 seconds or until golden brown. Use a fork or tongs to remove the pizzelles from the iron and place them on a wire rack to cool. Variation: A tablespoon of Anisette and/or Strega may be substituted for the 1 teaspoon of vanilla. |
