BELLE'S SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS | |
2 lb. ground beef 1 egg 3 cloves garlic, peeled 1 tbsp. brown sugar 2 slices day old bread, cubed 1 tsp. salt or garlic salt (or to taste) 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 cup onion, quartered In a food processor, mix together lightly beaten egg, garlic, brown sugar, bread cubes, salt/garlic salt and pepper, and onion. In a bowl combine the above mixture with ground beef, mixing well. Form beef mixture into balls the size of walnuts. SAUCE: 1 (12 oz.) jar chili sauce 1/2 cup grape jelly 1/4 cup lemon juice 2 tbsp. vinegar Heat chili sauce, grape jelly lemon juice and vinegar in a large skillet or saucepan over low heat until jelly is melted, blending well. Place meatballs in sauce. Cook over medium heat, turning meatballs to coat. Cover; simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Uncover and simmer for 10 minutes more or until sauce is thick.
