SPICIE CORNBREAD 
1 c. yellow cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. buttermilk
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. cream style corn
2 eggs
1 (14 oz.) can green chilies
1 c. grated Cheddar cheese

Combine all but cheese; mix well. Pour half of batter in a hot greased 9 inch pan. Sprinkle with cheese. Add rest of batter. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on oven.
