CHOCOLATE WALNUT TORTE 
30 Ritz crackers (roll into FINE crumbs)
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
3 egg whites
1 c. sugar
3 oz. chocolate bits (1/2 c.)

Combine crackers, baking powder, nuts and chocolate bits. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar until mixture is stiff and glossy (meringue texture). Fold in cracker mixture

Pour into ungreased 9 inch pie plate or tin. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool. Spread with topping (below). Garnish with chocolate curls.

TOPPING:

1 c. cream
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa

Combine, chill 1 hour. Then beat until whipped cream consistency. Fill the meringue crust.
